First Monday Workshop Series

First Monday workshops (January – December 2020) will be held at the J. Marion Sims Foundation on the 1st Monday afternoon of the month. Topics for each workshop are listed below. Some of the workshop dates do not have topics scheduled at this time, as those are still to be determined for some of those dates. Additionally,outside speakers are encouraged.
The goal of First Monday workshops is to offer collaborative/interactive learning opportunities that focus on organizational principles that can strengthen nonprofit organization’s systems and service delivery (ex. governance, planning/evaluation, active listening, group facilitation, fundraising, storytelling, volunteer engagement, social media).
2020 WORKSHOP Dates:
February 3 – 2:30 – 4:00 pm – Communications: Telling Your Story Join us to discuss the impact of telling your organization’s story. We’ll explore the basics of storytelling, walk through iconic examples, and work to build on our own stories in a way that reflects what we’ve discussed in the workshop.
March 2 – 2:30 – 4:00 pm – Making Change Last: Creating Sustainability for Organizations and PeopleAlmost no question on a grant application will inspire more fear than: “How will you continue your program’s impact and sustainability?” Most people see the “s-word” as code for raising more money, but it can also apply to more than just your organizational bottom-line. Join representatives from local philanthropic organizations for a discussion of sustainability and how to make lasting change in the circumstances and behavior of the people that you serve.SPEAKERS: Donna V.S. What are they looking for? And what do they see in all those numbers? How can financial analysis help you and your board make decisions about where and how to focus for impact?
